We really like it when you save your files as a .pdf, .ai or .eps format file- these are perfect for setting up for print and give a fabulous result. We love vectors! But we are okay with it if you save your file as a HIGH resolution (300dpi or more) .jpg or .tif. Ask a designer friend or us if you're not sure what to do.
It is SO important that you set up your file to start with as 300dpi, this is the resolution needed for a lovely print. It may look huge, but trust us, it's the right size. 72dpi may look okay on your screen but it is a very low print quality and will look yucky when printed. If you need any help, please ask!

Wordy-But-Important Design Information:
This is a template for your badge designs ONLY, make sure it's not in your final design. The interior circle is the face of the badge. The outer circle is the room left for wrapping around the edge of the badge.
Its recommended you use this as a base for your design if you are using layers in a program like Photoshop or Illustrator, this will give you a good idea of what size to design to. The Visible Badge Area is 1" or 2.5cms in diameter. Remember to remove this template once you've finished your design.
The inner circle is the actual size of the badge (represented by the dotted line)- any artwork that you want to be visible on the badge must be within the inner circle- this circle will not appear on the badge.
Artwork close to the inner (dotted) circle may distort slightly as it begins to wrap around the curved edge of the badge. Any artwork that you do not want to distort should be at least 1.5mm inside the dotted circle. Best results have occured when the design is slightly smaller than the inner circle.
The black unbroken circle is the crop line for the badge artwork. The area between the black circle and the dotted circle will wrap around the edge of the badge. Its a good idea to make this area the same as the background color of your main image. Don't put any information in this area that you'd like to be visiable, as the wrapping will cause distortion or could cause cropping.
IMPORTANT: Please make sure that all the spellings are correct, convert all text on your artwork to outlines, and send this file back to me with a resolution of at least 300dpi in CMYK format for Full Colour designs, and grayscale for Black and White designs . All text should be flattened or converted to outlines. Please note that colours observed on a monitor may sometimes appear differently when printed. Badge artwork cannot be re-printed due to color discrepancies, sorry!

Frequently Asked Questions about our Badge Making Services
Can you design a badge for me or my event?
Of course! If you have a photo, or a simple text you'd like to use, we're more than happy to design something for you. However, if you feel your design would beneft from the services of a graphic designer, etc., or you have something in mind a bit more graphically complex, we can quote you on a design service for your badges. We do allow a bit of time into the artwork set-up process, but this is more directed at optimising your artwork for a best quality print, rather than the actual design work. E-mail us if you have something in mind and we can give you a no-obligation costing.

How long will it take for me to get my badges?
We work to a 24-48 hour turnaround for most badge orders. This means that, within 24-48 hours of recieving your cleared payment, we will begin construction of your badges and then once they're done, pop them in the post for you. The term 'cleared payment' is important, because most banks differ in how long it takes for money to leave your account, and enter ours. Even though it disappears from your balance, it could take as long as 10 days to reach ours.
If you are ordering in excess of 800 badges, this time frame is usually a 48 hour minimum, because it takes us that long to build them all! But when you place your order we'll usually give you a time we expect to have them finished, and this has never exceeded 60 hours. We're speedy when we get going!
One important thing to remember is, we can SHIP your badges within 48 hours, but depending on your postage method, it may take longer to reach you. The best bet is to be informed of postage timeframes and realistic if you have chosen to use a cheaper postage option. However, Express Post will be the quickest postage time and there is more information about this service below.

What payment methods do you accept if I don't want to direct deposit?
If you cannot direct deposit, we accept PayPal payments, bank cheques or money orders.
Please be aware, PayPal does deduct a percentage from your payment to us to both recieve money and then transfer it into our account, so there is an extra fee for you if you wish to pay by PayPal (this is usually only a few dollars, we don't charge you the full amount PayPal charges us, we think it sucks too!) Also PayPal payments take a minimum of 5 days to enter our account, which technically means your payment doesn't 'clear' until after this time frame. This has been our experience in the past so we're hoping that this system will change or improve one day soon. PayPal is a safe way to pay for your badges on the internet, and it may be a good option for you if you do not have internet banking, etc.
We will also accept bank cheques - a bank cheque is a cheque issued by a bank, guaranteed by the bank and is as secure as cash. Please note these also take a few days to clear once they are deposited. Bank cheques can be obtained from your banking institution.
Australia Post offers Money Orders, which are an alternative to bank cheques. Money orders are purchased with cash (usually including a fee of around $4) and are then post-able to us. You also have a record of the payment and the peace of mind of knowing that your money order can only be cashed or banked by us.
Obviously, if you choose to send your payment through the post, there will be a slight delay until we receive your envelope containing the payment, depending on where you are posting it from and how you've posted it.
We're unable to offer any more information on these services but there is plenty of reading material about these methods on the internet. Please note also we accept plain old cash, if you want to pick up your order in person. This is fine too!

What's this express postage and how does it work?
Australia Post probably will explain it better than us, but basically, "Express Post" is a postage method that will ensure your order gets to you, from us, the next business day after it is posted in Australia. Of course, there are factors you have to work in - such as public holidays, weekends, and if your delivery address is within the Next Business Day Delivery Network.
The reason we like to use Express Post is because we're also impatient e-shoppers and we know what it's like to have paid for something that you're keen to see, and then have to wait! Express Post also offers a consignment number so if any packages go missing, we can follow them up to an extent. Of course, it helps if you can give us your correct postal address!
Unfortunately, we can't offer Next Business Day Delivery if you live in a country other than Australia. We do have access to Express Courier International, which is like Express Post in that it is a quick postage option, but the pricing of this service is indicative of how great/fast it is, so be warned! You can get a rough guide of pricing by checking out this site.

Can you just make me up the one badge and do I still get free express postage?
This is a good question - we're happy to offer express postage for orders which are in the region of 50+ badge units, because these are usually needed for an event, etc, and time is an important factor. If you're just after the one badge, or a couple of badges, for sample purposes, for fun or for a school project, etc., we're more than happy to do a unit pricing of $AU1 each, which will include regular surface mail postage in Australia. Generally badges sent using this method will get to you within a couple of days, but if you're working to a really tight deadline, let us know and we can get you pricing for a faster shipping method, which will be an additional charge. The reason we do not offer express postage for samples is that the minimum postage cost for express postage is around $AU7, and this seems excessive for a badge order of one or two units.

Can you discount your badge pricing if I place a really big order?
Occasionally we do offer a discount on larger orders, but this is in special circumstances - generally we just like to offer the best pricing we can do to ALL our customers. This is something we're happy to discuss further though, so feel free to email us with your quantities and artwork (if available).

Can you provide packaging for my badge order?
Sure, we'll happily include your badges in plastic bags if you wish to make them into sets, etc., for no extra charge - usually sets are defined as 3 or more badges. We can't individually package 1 badge to a bag but if this is something you're after, we can definitely look into it for you and provide you some costing options.
