Chandelier Love
As a summer project I'm currently building a chandelier out of paper. It's one I've adapted from Jeff Rudell's - although I do not expect the end result to be anywhere near the standard of his paper masterpieces. I'm having such a lovely time making it though that I really look forward to working with paper and card more in the future. I'm also getting a little bit better with my Xacto blade which will no doubt assist with trimming projects in the future.
I adore chandeliers - my obsession started with wanting to hire some for our wedding and not being able to find them anywhere (or anywhere near our budget). I regret not trying to build my own this time last year, as I think they would have worked really well. Here are some inspiring uses of the chandelier silhouette that work really nicely in their spaces:

I guess, like all trends, this one will be over soon, but I am loving it whilst it lasts.

When we moved into our house, there was a chandelier above the dining table. My mum HATED it! It was impossible to clean, and we were all so young (I was eight) that she was terrified the thing would fall down and hit one of us. I remember once Dom threw a fork at it and broke one of the glass droppers.
I've seen black plastic chandelier-style lampshades that look like those decals in the photo above; those look really classy. Hoping you're going to post pictures of your project when you're done!
Yeah I think they'd be quite difficult to keep clean and probably not the most practical of lighting - and knowing our record of broken items, it probably wouldn't last long in our house without something similar happening... However, I'm totally coveting some decals for our house and think they might stave off the chandelier craving. If only you could move them if you were planning to shift, Blik has some ace ones but they're a little expensive when converted to Aussie dollars.
Definitely posting pictures when I'm done :).
